Prior to becoming an art therapist, I studied fine art and ceramics and became a qualified art teacher in 2007. Since then I have taught hundreds of children and adults to work with clay.
In therapy many of my clients choose to work with clay, and find it tactile, easy to work with and very relaxing.
Since 2023 I have run therapeutic ceramics groups at Ohr Moshe school in Beit Shemesh. Each group is made up of between 5 & 9 boys aged between 11 & 18. The goal of each group is for boys to learn skills so that they can express their individuality through clay, learn social skills and learn to work in groups. The initiative has been so successful that I have decided to run some groups from my workshop in Modiin.
Learn how to create tiles, and how to join clay and add texture.
Learn how to make clay Hamsa's and mezuzot adding words, textures and patterns.
Learn how to make clay vases and bowls.
Make objects which are personalised. E.g. personalised mugs and Kiddush cups.
Make more complex objects which incorporate various skills.
Create ceramics pieces which require at least two people to work together. Build friendships. Learn social skills.
These sessions are for people who want to work one to one. In these sessions clients will learn all the skills they need to create a huge range of projects. Clients are also able to create whatever they want.
