Hi, I’m Tim Anders. I specialize in supporting teenagers, men, and families navigating complex emotional and behavioural challenges.
For many individuals—particularly adolescent boys and men who find traditional talk therapy rigid or inaccessible—conventional approaches simply aren't enough. By combining psychodynamic art therapy, EMDR, and boxing therapy, I offer a dynamic, engaging space where clients feel safe, understood, and truly heard.
My Approach: Therapy Tailored to You
No two clients are alike, and neither are my sessions. Working out of my dedicated art studio in Modi'in, I tailor every meeting to the individual’s unique preferences:
- The Medium: You choose what feels right for the moment. Some clients prefer hands-on creative work (clay, painting, or games), others choose to box, and many simply prefer to talk.
- The Process: My style is largely client-led and non-directive. I use the creative process to build a trusting therapeutic relationship, gently asking probing questions to help you uncover underlying patterns and root challenges.
- The Philosophy: I fundamentally believe that people already hold the answers to their own challenges. A therapist's role is simply to help unravel the information so you can implement your own solutions.
- Parental Partnership: Because sustainable growth extends beyond the individual, I work closely with parents through dedicated sessions to bridge communication gaps and integrate progress into family life.
One of my core strengths is helping clients see "the wood through the trees"—sifting through complex emotions to clearly identify primary hurdles and chart a clear path forward.
Specializations & Common Challenges
I bring extensive experience working with neurodivergence (ASD & ADD), anxiety, and self-regulation. People often come to my practice seeking support with:
- Emotional Regulation: Managing intense feelings (particularly anger) and building impulse control.
- Self-Esteem & Motivation: Overcoming a lack of drive, building confidence, and finding personal direction.
- Trauma Processing: Using specialized approaches like EMDR to safely process and heal from past trauma.
- Life Transitions & Identity: Gaining clarity around decision-making, who you are, and what you want out of life.
- Social Skills & Conflict: Improving interpersonal relationships and conflict resolution.
- Executive Functioning: Strengthening organizational, focus, and time-management skills.
Background & Clinical Experience
With over a decade of clinical experience spanning both the UK and Israel, my practice is rooted in a deep understanding of education, special needs, and mental health support:
- Current Practice: Alongside my private clinic in Modi'in, I work as an art therapist at a boys' high school in Beit Shemesh, supporting teenagers with ASD, ADD, and emotional regulation.
- Special Needs & Bereavement (UK): Prior to making Aliyah in 2021, I spent years at a special needs high school for boys addressing complex presentations (trauma, addiction, psychosis) and provided bereavement counselling through charities like Chai Cancer Care.
- Supervision & Academia: Appointed as an art therapy supervisor by the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) in 2013, I trained and supervised master’s students at the University of Hertfordshire.
- Community Leadership: Founder of Arts Therapies for Children (UK Registered Charity No. 1167912), established in 2016 following clinical research proving the efficacy of school-based art therapy, which now supports hundreds of children weekly across UK primary schools.
